General

Warlocks spread disease and weaken their enemies with poisons. While Wizards are the masters of direct damage, Warlocks reign supreme over sustainable damage. With Live Update 13 and the combat changes, Warlocks have become more AE (Area Effect) specialists. A Warlock's primary source of damage is now AE damage spells. With the combat update a Warlock's single target damage has been reduced.

Warlocks are still good DPSers in a group, but can also solo very effectively. Soloing becomes easier at level 23 with Dark Distortion. Since warlocks damage easily, the best approach to soloing involves continually using a root on the enemy and moving away to avoid being hit. Always identify your strongest root and use against higher level opponents in solo situations.
