Minor EQ2-daily.com Feature Update: Archive Search (Phase 1)

New Search Feature for EQ2-Daily.com

I have a HUUUGE list of tweaks/fixes/updates that I am trying to get done with the main news site right now because I feel that the forums site (different domain) is pretty much where I want it (If you have any suggestions though I am always open to them just email me).

So I began with phase 1 of 6 of the new search for the sites. This update for the site has 6 phases which end in a something I have been working on for a few
weeks
called Bristlebanebot which you will see soon. (Yes, it is that 7th icon at the top that has said ‘Coming Soonish..’ for about the past 3 months).

Phase 1 of this 6 phase search update was completed tonight and is live on the site. Basically one thing that I want to do is to get the archives in some type on non-clunky organization as it is now. Currently it is a total pain in the ass to try to find an article you might have seen a week or two ago on the site, and with the news being so heavy that I am posting 5-10 articles on average a day, they don’t stay on the main page very long. So the first step tied in nicely with phase 1, so at the bottom of the main news page on the site There is now a search bar that does a semi-decent job of looking up keywords for past articles. It is by no means where I want it, but it is a good start for finding past articles. Also right below it is the last 5 searched terms, which is kinda cool because you can see what other people might be looking for on the site and catch up on some past articles you might have missed.

Expect much much more on the site to follow, this is just the beginning of the search infrastructure upgrades.
